Obama, Romney face Nevada challenges

That’s not likely to be the case come November. Nevada is one of nine states that switched from Republican to Democrat in 2008, making it a prime battleground in the coming election. After a series of close presidential elections here, President Obama won the state with surprising ease, by a margin of 12 percentage points.

Russia, China veto U.N. resolution on Syria

The veto dealt a blow to attempts by the United States and its European partners to rally behind an Arab League plan that would require Assad to yield power and make way for a democratically elected unity government. Occupy D.C. camp raided by police

Washington Post, by Annie Gowen Posted By: Dreadnought- Sun, 05 Feb 2012 02:54:35 GMT Seven protesters were arrested after a pre’dawn raid on the Occupy D.C. camp in McPherson Square on Saturday, with dozens of police clearing away tents, urine’soaked bedding and dead rodents. U.S. Park Police on horseback and on foot with riot gear swept into the park just after 5:30 a.m. A helicopter circled overhead, horses’ hooves clattered on the pavement and protesters ran through the camp trying to wake up those still sleeping. Streets within a two’block radius of the downtown park were shut down because of the raid, which was characterized as “further enforcement”
