Liposuction is now a most popular cosmetic surgery all over the world, while in the U.S. there are over 400,000 of these procedures done annually. Liposuction includes the surgical suctioning of fat deposits from a specific part of body. The most common target areas are the abdomen, buttocks, hips, thighs, knees, chin, upper arms, back, and calves.
However, it has certain risks; in this way, the patients are under general anesthesia before surgery. Liposuction surgery and other weight loss surgery all cause some of complications. Now the mortality in the course of surgery has been declined. From 1994 to 1998, there was one case of death caused by liposuction surgery in every 5224 cases, which was a quite terrible number.
However, through the statistics from American aesthetic surgery institute recently, there is one case of death in every 47415 cases. Even now, people could not underestimate the potential risks in the process of surgery. A recent dermatology survey found that the rate of clinical complications is 0.7% in the process of “sucking” fat.
